Adjusting

It's so funny how we adjust in life.  This week Sophia is at VBS, so it's just Ezra and I in the mornings.

It. is. so. easy.

(Here is my super handsome breakfast date from this morning.)

This morning I had to run a few errands with just Ezra, and it's so amazing how much easier it is with one child rather than two!  It makes me think back on first having Sophia.  I went from not having any children to having one child.  And it feels life-changing.  And it is!  Your whole world is different, and you have a whole other human being to be responsible for.  But then you adjust and it doesn't seem nearly as difficult.

Then it's time for round two.  You are expecting baby number two.  At this point, you are much more confident in your role as a parent.  And baby number two arrives.  And, wow.  It's double!  There are two little people who are hungry and thirsty, two little people to get dressed, twice the responsibility, twice the needs, twice the care.  But then you adjust.  Completely adjust.  And it becomes normal routine that you don't even think twice about.

My baby number three is coming.  I'm sure there will be some difficult moments in the beginning.  I will have a first-grader, toddler, and newborn.  Three children!  Three completely different schedules and needs.  But I know I will adjust.  Because we just do.

And six months down the road, one of them will be off doing something else, and I will have just two of them.  And I will think...this. is. so. easy. :-)
